In this Dreamweaver tutorial we will look how to use Dreamweaver to create a website structured with HTML5 and CSS.

If you are new to Dreamweaver, this is an excellent overview of various Dreamweaver components and how to use them. The examples in this video are done with Dreamweaver CS6 but apply to Dreamweaver CS5 and Dreamweaver CC.

We will look at the following Dreamweaver tools and learn how to use them:

  • Dreamweaver Create Site
  • Dreamweaver CSS Styles Panel
  • Dreamweaver CSS Rules Definition Panel
  • Dreamweaver Split Code View
  • Dreamweaver HTML Code View
  • Dreamweaver CSS Code View
  • Dreamweaver Property Inspector
  • Dreamweaver Insert Tool
  • Dreamweaver FTP and Upload the Website to the Server

We will also look at the following HTML 5 tags:

  • Header
  • Navigation
  • Section
  • Article
  • Aside
  • Footer

We will use Dreamweaver to build out a simple website using most of the HTML5 tags listed above. We will also structure the website directory according to widely accepted best practice standards in the web design community.

We will tweak the site’s CSS and some JavaScript to make sure the web pages displays correctly in IE 7, 8 and 9. IE 10 and up have no issues with HTML5.
